Chicken Wings, Potato Skins With Pulled Pork, One Giant Onion Ring…
Fried Mushrooms & Two Spare Ribs
Watching college football, it’s all good.
Oh yeah, there are fried pickles in there, too.
The ribs were very saucy.
But, they were also tender and smoky.
Williamson Bros. bottles multiple sauces. But, there’s only one sauce on the table.

The Brickery’s Kugel
Our last visit (above) was late Dec. 2015.
(Their last day was December 23,2015.)
What will we miss the most?
Without a doubt, the Kugel! Sweetly rich, buttery, creamy kugel dotted with plump raisins and melty creamy cheesy blobs… it’s seriously old school comfort food. Delicious, again.
Will they reopen? That’s currently unknown. But, the website says, “Stay Tuned!”.

Lay’s Southern Biscuits & Gravy Chips
When we found a bag of these on a recent road trip, we couldn’t resist. We knew these would be something to talk about on our long drive. And, sure enough, they were. We opened the bag immediately upon entering the car. We both grabbed a chip. Then, we nibbled the chip. Simultaneously, we both started laughing.
“Yep, they sorta taste like biscuits and gravy.”
and then…
“But, they’re wayyyyyyy too salty.”
(said in unison)
Sure, it’s not a great version of biscuits and gravy… it’s too “artificial flavoring” heavy to be great or even good. But, the taste is there. It’s the taste of a ridiculously (We can’t emphasis this enough. We mean RIDICULOUSLY.) salty white sausage biscuit gravy… with a touch of black pepper and all. For the biscuit portion, Lay’s throws in an artificial butter flavor that lingers unpleasantly just under the surface of the powerful gravy flavor.
Did we love them? No. Did we like them? Eh, maybe a little bit. (Ok, make that a really little bit.) But, we did seriously enjoy them in road trip conversation topic sort of way. We probably spent close to an hour nibbling one at random as we tried to decide whether or not we liked them.
(And, yes, we did finish the bag. We came to regret that decision later when we were too queasy to eat a real meal.)
These are some seriously fun chips to eat… once.
Would we buy them again? Probably not. We don’t buy potato chips that often. When we do, we’re drawn to some sort of spicy chip. If it’s not spicy, what’s the point? Enough salt to make you feel bloated for a week? Thanks, but, no. That’s no fun.

Another visit, another great meal…

Point Washington Rolls
What’s this? Alligator egg rolls?
Under normal circumstances, we might ignore these. But, it’s beach time. So, we couldn’t resist ordering the alligator rolls for the fun of it. After one taste, we realized we’d do it again, too. These were shockingly good. No dipping sauce was needed … or wanted. We simply nibbled on the flaky little rolls that crumbled delicately under each bite.
The wrapping was pleasantly light, crispy, tender, and flaky. Not at all doughy or overly greasy, the alligator tasso was allowed to shine. We were sorry to see the last bite disappear.
The shrimp were buttery tender.
Crab Cake, Cilantro Basil Pesto Salmon,
& Haricot Verts
This dish stumbled into a bit of poor lighting. At sunset, our bay view was fading fast from our deck table tucked into a cozy corner. One moment, sunset… the next moment almost all of the light was gone.
This crab cake was especially noteworthy. Giant lumps of crab meat were deliciously fresh. Filling our senses with a taste of the sea sweetness, we both wanted more of this.
Lime In Coconut
Our sweet boozy coconut dessert cocktail arrived …accompanied by a light drizzle. But, we weren’t ready to relocate. We were protected from the slight chill and drizzle by an overhanging ledge.
Built in fire provides warmth and light to the bigger tables. As you can see, we weren’t the only ones reluctant to leave the outdoor seating area. In the end, we won. The drizzle faded away to a misty bay breeze.
We loved every second of this busy, fun-filled day …even the drizzle. We’ll remember it all.

Tonkotsu Ramen At Mizumi Ramen
Delicious, again.
Thick, creamy and dense with all of the goodness that comes from an intensely concentrated bone broth.
We were both mesmerized by the deeply rich, complex flavors of pork underlined by that luxuriously rich, buttery fat that allowed the taste memory to linger.
Spicy Ramen
This was equally delicious, again.
There’s just so much to love.
But, the pork…
Cha-Shu
Delicate charring at the edges, super rich and meltingly tender, this pork was nothing short of divine.
Every bite remains a vividly happy memory.

Mesquite Burger
With Pimento Cheese
The house made potato chips were very crisp and tasty. But, not a speck of salt was added. In the end, we decided not to add any either. We enjoyed them just as they were.
Another gorgeous day, another great meal…

We both loved it!
Actually, we loved both of these two enough that we thought that they deserved special attention. This visual reminder serves as a great way to keep them fresh in our minds. We’re craving more. Another road trip? We’d happily make the drive. We couldn’t think of a better way to spend a lazy holiday weekend day.
Wicked Weed
(Pernicious IPA)
Lovely heady bubbles, bright, herb-y, floral, freshly tart and bite-y… Complex flavors mingle together in all the right ways. There’s an incredibly surprising, elegantly seductive, and unforgettable quality. All the while, this one remains approachable and seriously drinkable. We’re loving it!

While deciding on breakfast, we grabbed a few bags of apples…
Yates
(Our Current Favorite)
It’s a little thing of beauty. The skin is incredibly tender and delicate. The flesh is white, crisp and sweet. A light blush from the skin colors the apple with each bite. We were charmed by them at the first bite. And, the tiny size makes a perfect little snack that will keep you going for hours.
Gold Rush
Loved them! Super crisp, but, not quite as pucker-y tart as a Granny Smith. These were a very close second for a current favorite.
Pink Lady

Always crisp, full of flavor, and delicious, you can’t go wrong with Pink Lady.
Rome Beauty
These were lovely, too.

Fried Pies
Peach, Blueberry, Apple…
Pecan Fritters
Apple Cider Donuts
The blueberry fried pies were still warm from the oven, generously stuffed and incredibly delicious. The pecan fritter was tasty, too. But, it was a bit light on pecan pieces. Even so, the taste of pecan was present in every bite. We were going to go back for a whole box of fried pies. But, by the time we’d finished our pie and wandered back to the fried pie counter the line was just too long.
We’ll have to go back for another bag of Gold Rush. We didn’t know just how much we’d love them.
All things apple… even greeting cards.
A bag of kettle corn for the road? Who could say no to that?
We were able to sample most of the Mercier Orchards hard ciders. We enjoyed each of the varieties of hard ciders that we tasted. But, we were told the bottles sell out quickly. So, we weren’t able to buy our favorite on this visit. Adele’s Choice was the clear winner for both of us with its dry, crispy bite. Next time…
