The Local No. 7

We love this burger…

…and the perfectly crispy sweet potato fries that come with it.

Local 7 Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts

Still an all time favorite…

Sometimes, they’re a very hearty snack.  Sometimes, we make a meal out of them.  And, other times we share them with a burger.

Kabob Hut

Kabob Hut’s Green Chilli & Onion Naan

Beef Samosa

Though, it wasn’t needed.  That sauce on the right was absolutely lovely.  Fresh, yet rich and spicy with a perfect consistency, it was everything that it should be.  Rich and creamy, there were no watery sauces to be found at Kabob Hut.  That deserves bonus points.

Delicious… period.

Finely minced onion, rich with spice, peas, and plenty of beef, these didn’t need a drop of sauce.  Super crisp on the outside and moist inside, they were divine.  In fact, we tried to make a meal out of them.

Lamb Chops

These were cooked to a well done.  But, they were still very tender and full of incredible flavor.  A little squeeze of lime made them even better.

Chicken 65

This was easily one of the best versions of this dish that we’ve ever tasted.  The chicken chunks were quite large, beautifully marinated under the crunchy exterior and deliciously tender.  And, the serving was extremely generous.

It was all good.  We say that a lot.  But, we mean it a lot.  From start to finish, this is currently one of our favorite meals to beat in the year to come.  If it’s this good every time, it will quickly become an all-time favorite.

It’s warm little haven with plenty of comfy seating.

Fruit Tart

Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, & Blueberry Tart

Loaded with berries topping pastry cream, this was a tasty little treat.  When we visit the Georgia Aquarium, this is our snack of choice.

The large peanut butter cookie is perfect for sharing.

(Skip the brownie.  It’s fine, but, a bit on the  bland side.)

Then, its time to relax and gaze into Ocean Voyager’s windows.

Antiques and vintage goods mingle with handmade arts and crafts.

Garden art objects, too.

…Hmm, I wonder if that little goat or found art flamingo might scare the wildlife away from our raspberry, blackberry and blueberry bushes.

Kudzu’s Famous Home Stores

Or, you might call it Kudzu Antiques Vintage Home Market.  That’s what it says on the website.

Mizumi Ramen

Mizumi Ramen Japanese Noodle House

Ebiyaki

Tonkotsu Ramen

It’s an all-time favorite.

Spicy Ramen

Silky rich broth and meltingly tender pork.  Yes, again.

Thick Noodles

Thick noodles or thin, you choose.  Both are lovely with a nice, firm chew.

Gorgeous eggs, creamy yolks…

Perfect elements mingle together to form an even better whole.

A New Menu

One Page Of Sides

And, there’s another full page of toppings to create your bowl of ramen.  Create it exactly to your taste.  This is the perfect weather to experiment.

Then, finish up with a big, lovely mug of green tea.  It’s a soothing end to one of our favorite meals.  I doubt we’ll ever stop loving it.

Umaido, Another Visit

Umaido

Tonkotsu Ramen
(Rich Soup Version)

Deliciously rich… pork, broth, and egg

The rich soup version is a bit more reminiscent of Mizumi Ramen’s broth.

No additional toppings are needed.

The pork on this visit was even tastier than the last.  But, there was still quite a significant chew (possibly even chewier than the previous visit).  Given the thickness of each slice, a bit of tenderness would be appreciated.

Ultra Spicy Ramen

It’s a favorite for someone.

Umaido

Umaido

Tonkotsu Ramen

Both eggs had a warm, soft center.

This is Umaido’s original tonkotsu broth.  It’s a lovely balance of richness and light.  There is an optional “rich” soup(next visit).  But, we think it would be more accurate to label it the “richer” option.  This was simply lovely.  Again.

Mentaiko

Ultra Spicy Ramen

Spicy noodles hide under all of those lovely toppings.  Levels 1 and 2 are quite mild.  Level 3 gets a bit warmer and the mild tingle gets spicier throughout the meal.  Level 4 will heat you up rather nicely.  Level 5 will probably be the spiciest option we’ll ever choose.  Then again, we might just stick to 3 & 4 so all of the flavors can shine.

Thick slices of roasted pork (Chasyu) have incredible flavor.  Again.  But, there was a distinctive chewy bite to the pork on this visit.

Raku

Raku’s Takoyaki

This was the highlight of the meal.

Tonkotsu Ramen

We have no kind words for this dish.

Tonkotsu Ramen With Seafood

Ditto.

To make matters worse, all of the seafood in this dish was overcooked to the point of being rubbery.  Unpleasant.

Both eggs were bland, a bit mangled and slightly overcooked.

The Bayou Boil

Cherrystone Clams On The Half Shell

We could eat these every day of our lives.

So tender and sweetly fresh, these were absolutely lovely with the tiniest drop of lemon.  They were just as lovely without any embellishments.  None were needed.  But, the Mignonette sauce was equally delicious.  It offered a touch of variety between the bites of perfect simplicity that a clam on the half shell will always be.  We loved every bite.

Loved it!

The Bayou Bucket With House Special Boil

Snow Crab, Blue Crab, Shrimp, Crawfish…

…Mussels, Clams, Andouille Sausage, Potatoes, and Corn on the Cob

There was a generous taste of everything.  The snow crab legs were especially noteworthy.  They were incredibly plumb and sweet.

Shrimp Boil With House Special Boil

The shrimp are boiled in the shell (but, split and well-cleaned).  These were cooked beautifully.  A touch of spice and a boat load of garlic cover every shrimp with the House Special Boil option.  Every shrimp was easy to peel and incredibly tender.

This huge portion of fries fills one platter.  It’s part of a shrimp boil lunch special served with fries on the side.  A couple hush puppies were hiding on the side, too.
