Labeled a malt beverage in the finer print, we bought these for fun…. and to mock. We completely expected these to be absolutely and utterly horrible. Oddly, they weren’t. They were a bit too sweet, but, really not bad at all. Mango adds the sweetness while passion fruit brings tart and blood orange brings the bitter. It works if your expectations aren’t set too high and you can take a hefty dose of sugar in your “cocktail”. (Though, cocktail would not be an accurate descriptor. Make no mistake, these are a malt beverage. Is Kinky Pink a premium malt beverage? That’d be hard to say. The word premium in front of the words malt and beverage makes both of us chuckle more than a little bit.) And, yeah, they’re shockingly bright pink. So, there’s that.

I bought the Kinky liquor at Costco about a year and a half ago. I brought it home, took a sip and thought I was going to end up with diabetes right then and there, it was THAT sweet. It now lives with the rest of the unloved liquors but I occasionally use it when friends come over and want a drink but don’t want something too high in liquor content (as IF). If you mix it with some seltzer it’s not toooo bad. Still not good, but overall more drinkable.
I just saw your comment. I think it’s only fair to compare this to other “malt beverages”. Since they’re so dreadful as a group. As a malt beverage, this flavor isn’t bad. I can’t speak to the other flavors. We will never purchase a blue malt beverage. And, the yellow? No. This is the blood orange and passion fruit flavor. Did you try the blood orange and passion fruit?
